Solve clues, then read the initials. Connect a design with the problem it addresses, then describe a testable improvement.
Materials & preparation
- One printed learner copy; keep the answer view separate when provided
- Pencil and eraser
- Model and teach
- Think aloud through one example, including how you notice and correct a mistake. Then use this learner direction: Solve each clue, then read the first letters from top to bottom. Identify the need, one useful feature, and the evidence that would show whether it works.
- Support
- Complete the first item together, highlight the key word or visual clue, then fade the prompt.
- Stretch
- Ask for an explanation using the topic words, then add one new example. Create a new example that follows the same idea, then explain how it works.
- Check for understanding
- Ask for two answers without the word bank or answer view, then correct misconceptions briefly.
