- Pre-cut pieces, or child-safe scissors with adult supervision
- A clear surface for arranging the pieces
- Model and teach
- Think aloud through one example, including how you notice and correct a mistake. Then use this learner direction: Cut out the cards, then place the events in order. Ask what changes and what stays the same across the sequence shown on the page.

- Complete the first item together, highlight the key word or visual clue, then fade the prompt.
