Materials & preparation
- One printed learner copy; keep the answer view separate when provided
- Pre-cut pieces, or child-safe scissors with adult supervision
- A clear surface for arranging the pieces
- Model and teach
- Think aloud through one example, including how you notice and correct a mistake. Then use this learner direction: Cut out the cards, then place the events in order. In one pictured example, identify the tool, the load, and the action it makes easier.
- Support
- Complete the first item together, highlight the key word or visual clue, then fade the prompt.
- Stretch
- Ask for an explanation using the topic words, then add one new example. Compare two valid examples and explain one meaningful similarity or difference.
